Asking to borrow from own account
My sister set up family sharing, and it's asking to borrow games from her own account. No, she doesn't have two accounts, she tried to set up sharing with me only. The username is the same (daisywoot) for both lmao. It asks to turn on family sharing when she tries to access it, and then says there's an error because it isn't turned on (it is). This is so irritating.
This is her own games, not mine. It says "borrow" and "from daisywoot's library - offline" then asks to authorise access from that account.

Well, the only and correct answer is, she is on the wrong account. Have her check the receipt of the games she bought, they have the real account name in it.
Have her compare it to the account name she currently uses to log into the wrong Steam account.
I'm very sure they are not identical.

I looked up her username and an identical one with an identical name came up, idk if that's possible. They both haven't been set up with a profile either so it's hard to say. They're both daisywoot, there isn't really any other way you can spell that.

What makes even less sense is I completly removed sharing on her account and now it's saying that it's authrorised for sharing lmfao and that she can play it. But it still doesn't belong to her.

Usernames are not unique, so yes, that is possible.
Only accountnames are unique. The private one you use to log in.

Yeah and they're the exact same. She hasn't set up a steam profile on either so there's no room for that to happen afaik. Only once you set up a profile iirc does it change your username, like how mine is Yoplait but my account name isn't. It also doesn't make sense that disabling family share would then grant me access to a game that was telling me I need family sharing on when it was.

Again, public profile name is not the account name.
The account name is never shown publicly. It is private and sensitive information.

It's not hard to understand that usernames are not unique at all.

See, not unique.

I know this. But the account name is the same as what shows up. I literally watched her log in. She uses the same account name to log in and the same account name shows up as the username. So idk. But you're still not giving me an answer as to why turning family sharing OFF would then grant access to a borrowed game, considering the reason it wouldn't let me play it is because it was saying it wasn't on when it was. Only when I turned it off did Steam suddenly say "Oh you can play this game now because sharing has been configured" on the exact same account it was saying borrow on.

Then she has set the username to be the same as the account name, which security wise, is a bad idea.
The other account still has a different accountname.

Do the games show up in a separate list below hers like <username's> games?

Fair enough. It still doesn't really tell me why turning family sharing off let me borrow the game.

Yes, and mine at the top for whatever reason, and that mine are playable and not borrowable lmao. On her account. They all say the exact same name, daisywoot, so it's so hard to tell. And the only other account that comes up on search is the exact same.

Here's what it looks like. Mine's at the bottom again now, it keeps randomly switching order. And yes, it's the same account both times. Idk why sometimes mine is at the top and mine is at the bottom, but even when hers is at the top it says to borrow.

Have her go to her profile page and right-click copy URL. Compare it to the one that comes up in search, probably different.

Though not sure about the disabling family share thing.

But she's never entered anything different. I've watched her do this like 1000 times, log into the exact account w the exact same login name. It was only when we turned on family sharing for my games to be avaliable on her PC did it suddenly (literally today) ask her to start borrowing them.
