Also i played the game since 2015, it was great then and is great now.
I recommend watching this review about the current status of the game:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJzUupHlDeM
I dont want you to force to play the game but you asked for the best survival base building game.
And for me that is "7 Days to Die" without a doubt.
Because they still working on it and adding new stuff.
They are currently on Alpha 19. What you need to understand, each new Alpha version is nearly a new game. They change and add so much stuff that if you would compare, say, Alpha 15 with Alpha 19 they are completely different games apart from the basic premise.
The video i linked was still Alpha 18, the last Alpha 19 update has VASTLY improved the graphics, added dozens of new zombie types, new weapons, over a hundred new locations to explore and and and.
The game is about 95% finished at this point, the next Alpha will be the last one before the game gets into BETA for final bug fixes and such and then release is planned.
Could change again ( did in the past) but my point is, the game is a tremendous amount of fun, even while its still in "Early Access".
Its not like something is missing from the game, its 100% completely playable with all the features and such, they just add more and more to it.
Alpha 19 improved the performance a lot but i cant really tell you how it will run on lower end systems. I play on a Ryzen 2600x/ RTX 2080 in 1440p and that runs fine for me with 60 FPS+.
But the game has a ton of graphical settings you can adjust, so it should not be hard to tune it to your system capabilities.
Unless you have a real potato.
I would recommend waiting to buy the game anyway till the next sale.
Its usually 75% off during big sales and the Steam Autumn sale is coming up at the end of the month.
