My computer keeps shutting down when downloading games.
Can you help me please? I recently got a new gaming laptop and I went to install my steam library on it. But whenever I start downloading, everything works fine but then in just shuts off. It says “hibernating” and then the whole thing shuts down. I have to restart my computer over and over again but it keeps happening.

This is know as laptop or user config issue , edit the right power scematic plan
thats Balance mode and Full Performance mode, do not edit max poer saveing mode.
its ment ot shutdown with low battery and afk kick in and turn it off to save whatever juice thast left.

ps.
this is what happend with no powercord or powersupply attacheched or wallplug not turn on, normal change up symbole is there.

whats even more odd that you dont seem to know that.
is it possible you actual did not read Laptop manual, lets just cough cough here,
cant say you should know better or did not bother with it. untill now you need help with basic laptop requirements info on the subject. and no it dont make it better then you talk with tech ppl or ppl that do know such. just be prepare to get a public slap over fingers here.

trust me on this , we are not after you , but sometime such nice slap over fingers help you and all other laptop owners , so they never forget such.

happy new year anyway :)

I tried all that and it's still not working. You really don't have to be so mean.

They're not being mean, they're being realistic about the actual problem you're having.

Since you didn't say in your first post EXACTLY what you have tried - merely stated that you restarted it over and over - no one can read your mind to figure out all of the things you did or did not do.

If the problem has persisted, your power supply needs replacing, or your laptop needs to be professionally fixed.

It's not the laptop it's just steam. i can downlad games from battle.net and orgin just fine without my whole system crashing. I've checked the power supply, and ran a Bios scan and everything seems fine.

It didn't work.
Your pc is not crashing. It's hibernating. When your pc hibernate's it turns your pc off. You have to go into power plan and adjust the time before your pc goes into hibernation. What hibernation does is saves what you are doing to your HDD and shuts your pc off.

You can turn it off by running a comand prompt with admin and type in powercfg.exe -h off.

Thanks. I''l try doing this. I set it to hibernate after 999 minutes inactive. Although it shuts off while I'm still using it, I'll give your method a try,

It's powercfg -h off my phone likes to auto correct. To get it back just type on instead of off. Restart the laptop.

Feel free to contact own laptop support, i will not even call this a steam problem, could be a laptop problem or user problem. ( maybe this is the way in the future comment such post here )

you think we are rude , nah most of us see it from other side in this case.
