No option to install onto SSD Drive

On my older PC, when i installed a Steam game, there was an option to select which drive to install it onto. I would use the SSD drive for speed. Now, my new PC with a one terrabyte SSD drive does not appear as an option when I install a game. My choices are C: drive (where my windows system is) and E: drive (which I am pretty sure is where I plug USB memory sticks into occasionally. So can anyone help me getting the option back to install onto the SSD drive? Is something wrong with my SDD drive? Thank you!

External or internal SSD drive? Does it appear in diskmgmt.msc?

Steam > Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders

Set new drive as a library folder.

Try again.

If the drive is an external drive, log out first, mount the drive and log back in. Follow the steps above.

FrookinRaw, the SSD is internal. I opened Disk Management, which said it was for partitioning, and looked at the drives listed. Disk 0 has 2 partitions totalling 600MB capacity, which I thought was supposed to be 3 or 4 terrabytes. Then Windows C: drive is listed with 930GB capacity. I see New Volume E: with 3726GB. Could that be the SSD? It was supposed to be 1 terrabyte. I'm sorry I don't understand much technical stuff. Thank you!

You should see the SSD as a separate disk in a separate row, possibly Disk 1 (not sure how many disks you have). It should have the size (~1TB) and brand indicated. If so, does it have a drive letter assigned to it?

Does the SSD show up in file explorer?

FrookinRaw, could I have this backwards? If i add the Windows C: drive capacity of 930.91GB to the Free Space of 724.35GB, the total is 1,655GB, with 78% free. The New Volume E: has 3726GB capacity with 3725GB free, 100% free. Does that mean that windows is on the SSD and the HD hasn't been used for anything? I"m pretty much clueless, but hope you will understand this! Thanks!

In File Explorer, I see Drive E:, which says it is empty. i looked at Device Manager/Disk Drives and see 2 line items, WDC WD40EZAZ-00SF3B0 and WDC WDS100T2BOC-00PXH0. Does that help?

Disk 0 sounds like your SSD then. 1Tb is approximately 931GB when all is said and done. Did you add the SSD yourself or was this prebuilt?

oh! i right clicked Drive E: in file explorer and got properties. 3.63 TB capacity, , 220MB used, 3.63TB free. so that must be the HD.
Then i did the same for the Windows C: disk and get 930GB capacity, 206GB used, 724 GB free space. Is that the SSD which should be 1 terrabyte capacity?

So I am running everything on the SSD and nothing on the HD?

I think that all makes sense, and thank you so much for your patience and help! I feel a lot better now knowing I have an SSD, the system is in the SSD, and nothing was wrong with my installation of Steam games other than I didn't realize Drive E: was the HD and C: drive was the SSD. You should be good to use the C:\ drive as a library folder, although depending on the size of your library you may need to start using the HDD as a library folder as well as at some point.
