Remote Play Issue: Host-PC is signing out
This seems to be a peculiar issue, because i'm not finding any threads on this. Not sure in which
forum to post so here goes nothing:

I have my Desktop PC up and running, with no standby timer or anything. I use it to stream
to my laptop in another appartment next to mine, with another network, which i know is not
supported by all games, at the moment i'm using it for borderlands 3.

The Issue: After some time (roughly an hour of play) the remote play connection cuts out. On my Client-Laptop i try to restart the stream but it's not even shown as an option. So i return to my appartment to find out that my PC is in fact still running but its logged out of the steam client. This confuses me alot, since randomly signing out of steam was never an issue before, i sometimes have my pc running over night and never will it just sign out of steam without my doing. So i got a feeling the issue is connected to remote play, but i have no clue how to troubleshoot this.

Anyone experienced that before, or any idea what to do? Got a feeling it might be some setting, but why is it logging out all together?

So signed out as in you're looking at the login screen?

Exactly. I'll be try to set it to auto sign in so the pc can be again used to host the game, but still this is an issue i, as of now, don't quite understand.

If the pc/windows was crashing and restarting, i would be looking at my windows login screen, since it requires a password. If only the game was crashing then i'm not sure why that would result in any sign out. Seems like steam is shutting down and restarting or something.

Exactly that is the case. And since you don't let Steam log in automatically, you have to log in manually then. I had a similar issue with remote play to the point where I've created a workaround. Valve implemented the very same workaround later, namely restarting Steam when it crashed during hosting.

There's two possible aporaches:
1. Tool around with host settings (mostly encoding settings) to remove the crashes, updating your graphics driver may help as well. See if disabling HW acceleration for web views has an effect, in theory, it's got exactly 0 to do with streaming but in practice, certain GPU drivers can't handle several different loads at once properly.
2. Set Steam to log in automatically so when it restarts, it's logged in

this happens to me almost every time i get the message 'press ESC to control the remote machine', when i need to type something. macOs to MacOs. I end up playing using remote desktop.
