Gifting a friend from another region
Was trying to gift a friend a DLC, but it denied me, so i instead tried a game, still denied me, other games as well.

Message: Due to regional price differences, the gift you are trying to send cannot be sent to the recipient's region.

This makes no sense, because I have in the past, last year and this year, bought him a couple of gifts while on discount too. Is there something wrong on steam's end?
I tried buying him the Little nightmares DLC because I already got him the game itself previously a while back.

I came across that during this sale. I tend to buy items off of friends' wishlists as Christmas gifts this time of year. One is overseas and I had to research each of their titles to see which ones I could gift.

Tried multiple games, he is from germany and where im from i get defaulted to USD and USA pricing even though that makes it overpriced for me.
Maybe the issue is how the discounts are given to germany that makes a pricing difference big enough?
The discounts are normally the same for every region. That may cause the price difference to exceed 10% when it did not before the discounts. Steamdb.info is a good resource to research how the prices differ between regions. Germany will be using Euros.

For instance, you can see that Cyberpunk 2077 differs by 21.83% from USD to EUR.

Black Mesa on the otherhand only differs by 9.64%.

With the two examples above, you would not be able to gift Cyberpunk 2077 but you could gift Black Mesa.

I recommend to use Augmented Steam extension on web browser, that can show price differences on store pages right away.

... So I guess there is no FIX to this? :steamfacepalm:

Coincidentally, I am also sending it to a friend in Germany.

Send them a Steam digital wallet card.

There is nothing to "fix". As Drab indicates above, you can send them a Steam digital wallet so that they can purchase the game on their own.

Sorry for not helping out but I have to say:

Thanks OP. Because of your title now my stupid brain can't stop wondering why on earth you're trying to send your friend to another region.

Ohh and yes, I even remember Valve saying something along the lines of "only major price difference will be affected". Have no idea which person thinks 10% is major. :P
Then again, a 10% failure rate in anything is horrendous!
