Black Mesa is missing!
I purchased a gaming magazine years ago that had black mesa in it to play, i remember activating it. Same goes for another magazine with the orange box collection, I have some of the games but I remember there being more. Why has this happened? Black Mesa was my introduction to the HL series and I liked playing it. Only now, it';s missing from my account, wtf?

Black Mesa is a separate game not created by Valve.

You likely had the free version of Black Mesa. The one that's up is a higher quality release.

I get that, but isn't Black Mesa an unofficial prelude to HL series?

Sounds about right, higher quality in what way? I was happy with the one I had, was it removed? free version or not, I paid extra for the magazine about 24-28 AUD going by my memory so in a way I paid for the game.

I see "The Orange Box" but when I CTRL+F for Black Mesa no luck.

Black Mesa was a remake of the original Half-Life.
Snapjak Dec 22, 2020 @ 1:42pm
The older version used the Source SDK 2009(12?) 2005 and was merely a mod, while the current one that's for sale is using a much newer version and has officially received support/blessing from Valve.

The current version of Black Mesa hasn't been on sale that long for you to have "bought" years ago. Unless you can point to it in your purchase history I think we're looking at a combination of memory mashup and misunderstanding of the current product versus what you played or "activated" years ago.

Another thing to consider is if you had another account that you use to activate it under.

What does it say for the game's Store Page?

Between 8-10 years ago, I juuuust used that licenses link the good guy posted before in here.

I don't have another account, no reason for one imo

Im not sure what you are making me look for on the store page?

No, I'm NOT trying to cheat anyone here, I don't care for the "revamped remake" that has been posted with link here. I am not asking or expecting for the new Black Mesa (2020 edition) for anything, I was just wondering why I don't have the older "mod version" here, as that is the version I technically bought with a gaming/pc magazine years ago (around 8-10 years ago judging by the licenses area of when I purchased the Orange Box around the same time)

Black Mesa was not a purchasable title originally, but a free mod. It has since been developed into a commercial standalone product which is essentially a modern remake of the original Half-Life.

Black Mesa hasn't been up for sale for that long, it was first added as an actual purchase in 2015.

What you played back then was the mod, and yes it had to "add" itself to Steam to use the SDK.

But you need to have purchased Half Life to use the mod with correct?

That's not the Black Mesa I'm referring to.

It is though. I have both, the mod from 2012 AND the paid game here.

Should clarify, I still have the 2012 mod files.

Okay then, so there is nothing stopping me from getting the full Black Mesa mod that was aroun 2009-2012 for free of a mod site? ready to play? if so, there is no issue here then and this thread is /end :-)

Okay man sorry for the confusion, as long as I can still get the mod version for free then I see no issue here

Thanks for the clarification man. So Black Mesa is a HL2 mod that remakes the HL1?
