If you don't remember your account name, any email you receive from steam starts with "hello <your account name>", so check your email for any old mail from them.
Check that you are using the account log in name like Joke said in the first response to the OP.
Make sure that there are no extra spaces at the end of the account name and no extra spaces at the end of the password.

Did either of you make a password for your Steam account that is longer than 64 characters?
The Steam website accepts a longer password than the Steam client so you can log into Steam on a browser with the longer-than-64-characters password, but on the client the password gets cut off after 64 characters. Because your password is missing all characters after the 64th character, you get the error message that either the log-in name or password is wrong.
