Steam says I need 250mb of free disk space to update steam.

Recently I opened my Steam app to find that the screen was totally black in my library. I remember going into the beta version of Steam to fix the black screen before, so I just did the steps in reverse going back to the normal version. Once I did that my Steam game crashed and why I tried to open Steam it told me I needed 250mb to update.

I don't even use the store since I have all the games I need, so this was completely unnecessary.

The worst part is in my computer doesn't have 250mb in total, it's around 200mb.

Can someone please help me get back into Steam? Thanks

Edit: Problem fixed! I just uninstalled and reinstalled steam.

Sounds like most of your issues stem from the lack of space.

Well, I wanna try getting back into the beta version where I could still play it even with the lack of space.
And even when I first got steam, with less then 250mb I could still play steam and even update it several times. This "you need 250mb to update" has come out of nowhere.

Ok, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling steam, and amazingly it worked! I had no clue it would be this easy.

That's because you uninstalled your games and lost those associated files as well.
