Friend List Wipe
Back on the 6th I fell for a phishing link for some esports crap by a friend... Nothing about that entire conversation was suspicious to me. It was random, but didn't think anything of it.

Today I got tipped off by another friend via discord about the similar conversation however claimed I sent that message. This sent me into a panic.

I informed my friends (those on my discord server and a few other servers) someone gained accessed to my account. Shortly after the imposter blocked a few and wiped the friend list clean, he got tipped off of being found out of being a fake. I was able to change the password (fumbling around in mid panic), and just in case reconnected the authenticator as I was having issues with it (however was more due to user error on my end so that wasn't needed at all.)

Steam guard was up, I have my account connected to the steam mobile authenticator (and been like that for over a year). Thankfully the only damage done was the friend list (and in the process of re-adding everyone, but getting hit with the spam/limit so it's slow and can't reach out to everyone.

Via steam support I discovered, via chatlogs, it wasn't a bot that was talking but another person. A friend asked a simple question "What color is a watermelon" and the other person said "green". I also discovered someone logged into my account through a RU IP, however I never gotten any e-mail or even a notice of this. Again, my account is tied to my phone, but was able to get e-mails to change my password and reconnect the authenticator (again wasn't needed but panic mode).

Another friend who did fell for this (my account being the tool this time) DID get a notice of a log in from a RU IP, but for whatever reason I didn't. She changed her password, thankfully.

Is there anyway I can get my friend list back to what it was on Nov 30th, that was after I did a cleaning myself. I may have been kicked/removed from a few groups, but that's the least of my worries right now. I don't know if they removed any games from this account either... haven't checked but I don't know if there's a way to find out.

If the only option is to re-add everyone one by one, deal with the limit and if possible try to contact them outside of steam then so be it, but at the very least I'm putting this on notice.

I am thankful this was the only damage done. I'm sad I fell for this too... it was just too convincing to not be a fake from that friend. No warning signs, nothing suspicious, was random but even that alone doesn't always mean it's odd.

That seems to help... but doesn't offer any info about groups...

Nevermind, Groups is grouped up with Friends on this... that's nice.

Thanks for the help.
