How to use external hard drive on PC?
So i got a new PC which only has a 256GB SSD, so i took out my old HDD from my old PC and bought a hard drive enclosure to use it with my new PC that way.

I've installed the old HDD into it, set it up, plugged it into new PC, it shows up, i can see all the files - all is good.

Now what do i need to do to use it as extra storage for our games? Not all of my games I have on Steam will fit onto the SSD, hence doing this.

I know there is just dragging and dropping files, or choosing the new external HDD when saving stuff etc, but is there a way to make it, like, a dedicated place for the games?

Thank you in advance!

Create a folder on the external HDD - for example - Games

Next:

Steam menu (top left) > Settings > Downloads > Content Libraries > Steam Library Folders

Add the folder here you created previously.

When installing games you are given an option to choose the folder.

Note:
Steams default downloading folder is in the same location Steam is installed and the game will download there and be moved to the folder on the external drive. The space in the downloading folder will be freed up after the game has been moved.

Note:
Always ensure the external drive is connected before booting Steam and always shutdown Steam via the menu - Steam > Exit.
