Easiest way to move Steam Games, Saves, Mods from old computer to new without re-downloading everything?
I have a bandwidth cap from my ISP, so downloading everything new is not a good option.

I have hard drives that I can move from one computer to the other. This seems like the easy answer, but comes with the question of making those games work like they should on a different OS without having to re-download and install everything completely.

Anyone have experience with this that can help save me some hours and frustration?

Easiest way, copy paste the steam folder/s on the "same" place on other computer.

For savegames check where their path is per game.

1. Install Steam on new PC.
2. Copy & paste Steam folder from Old PC to New PC
3. If you have games saves in documents, copy those as well from old PC, and paste on New PC.

That easy.

"google it" is not a good response. Yes, I know I could google it. The problem is that there are loads of guides over the years which may no longer be valid. Some mention Windows XP even. Looking for more current information, pointers on things to avoid, ect.

I had to do this 3 months ago, pretty much as described above.
Try:

1. Choose which games to install, start the download on each game, then stop it.
2. Exit steam
3. Copy files over the top of the partial files
4. Start Steam, clear the downloads "cache" mine kept getting corrupted at one point.

Just copy paste.

If you want to move just games, you need to place their appmanifest file as well.

It's literally only one folder you need to move, and you're done, it's that simple. Read the three easiest steps in post #4.
