can i play games in 720p res on a 1080p screen without the zoom effect ?
when i game on my old laptop (with 1080p screen) i down the resolution in game to 720p for more FPS but it make things smaller so when i alt tab it takes about 10 secs to "zoom" stuff to 1080p.
i know this is a normal thing but is there any software which will make the game run on 1080p but with 720p downgraded pixels.
some games like Warframe has this option, 1080p with 720p graphics but you can even put on borderless mode and fast alt-tab anytime

Depends on the game.

Some games may have dynamic resolution scaling settings, but not all games have this, what it does is lower texture quality.

There also another setting where some games may have rendering resolution scaling, allow you to keep resolution you're using, but it downscale your rending resolution so output what you wanted, it may cause pixelization the more you lower it below 100% but if going up 100% then you're upscaling the rendering scaling.

does your gpu / drivers have the option for gpu scaling? maybe that will at least lessen the time it takes to switch resolutions

not sure if this is what you mean but as my laptop display is "rendered" by the CPU in intel graphic settings i can change the native resolution to 720p but that will make everything 720p (even the desktop)

oh nice, so this basically removes the "blur effect" you get when you low the res, but will it stop make the whole screen 720p while the screen is focused on 720p game ?
