I keep getting notifications of activity and comments about people I have blocked..

So I blocked this one user who was immensely toxic to me from over a year ago both on Discord, Steam and any other social media we share. I have been no contact for over a year now. Yet for some reason, out of the blue, I recently got a notification of a comment made by a mutual friend on that user's page. the notification was annoying and would not go away until I clicked on it to see it. I just wish there was a way to delete that notification somehow or I thought blocking would block all communication, thus I would never be able to see stuff like that ever again. sometimes Steam is weird and has some quirks.. plus I even started getting notifications of certain activities of another certain user I blocked too. Is there any other advice that can help me make sure this does not ever happen again in the future pls? Thanks.

You'll still get notifications for them.

You will still get the notification, but if it's just comments on a profile or something it will just say by a blocked user. Just don't reveal it.

well here's the thing it's about comments on the blocked user's profile, not mine. are you sure there's nothing else that can be done without reading the comment or clicking on the notif?

like these are for comments by other mutual friends I follow who occasionally comment on the blocked user's page. while I am fine with seeing the notif if I can just get rid of it, I don't feel fine about having to click on that notif and read that activity itself, just to get rid of the notif.

Maybe to try to untick subscribe to discussion from the blocked guy's profile and it will stop :)

that's just how it is, more content is being added somewhere you're subscribed regardless of whether that content is a blocked user or not.

well pardon my French but that is a bit friggin' ridiculous. Other social media platforms pretty much cut about everything off, when you block a person, as far as I know. Maybe hopefully this will be a thing that will be brought up and fixed by the tech monkeys at Steam one day. but I hope I am not the only one that has to deal with this here and there.

how? I looked at the guy's profile for just a bit and don't see a button like that when I press the more actions button and all.

All you have to do is uncheck it, and you won't receive notifications.

Also, there is a "Mark all as read." in the notification panel. You can use that to ignore the message entirely after you look at all the other notifications you know are not from that.

For reference, the box you need to check is smaller than the box labeled subscribe to discussion on this post.
Right under where you can enter your message.

Does this apply to both the mobile and PC app? And are you able to provide screenshots so I can get a better idea? Because again these notifications are not for comments on a post someone made but comments from a mutual friend on the blocked user’s main profile page. That’s the stuff that comes up as notifications in the notifications center

huh? that is really weird. now I see it. oops derp. well maybe I just panicked a bit and didn't see the button/little text that says "mark all as read" on the PC app but I for sure do not see it on the mobile app. thanks ya

Problem solved ^^ I just clicked that little text for mark as all read and marked the discussions box only X3

Though another weird thing I noticed is that when I do scroll down to the comments section of the main user page of the blocked individual, the little box saying “subscribe to thread” was never marked either. Which made it very weird. However I am glad there is an actual solution, on PC, that makes the notifications go away without clicking on them and thus having to read the comments. So thanks ^^
