Xbox Series Controller going nuts only on Steam
First of all, I updated Windows so the controller at least connects. Everywhere except Steam the controller's doing fine, so it's not the controller itself. In steam the X button is SOMETIMES the B button, but only when the B button isn't the B button. Plus, the controller is viewed by steam as TWO controllers. One called Xbox One controller, and the other is some weird seemingly random name that I've never used in my life. Anyone else have this problem?

You do have this installed, right?

My controller works fine in Steam.

The app only notices my controller when I use it through Bluetooth, when I can't download the firmware update. When I plug it in through USB, the controller vibrates, but Xbox Accessories does nothing.

My xbox series controller is recognized as xbox one controller via usb cable (buttons work in SF5), or random controller via bluetooth (buttons not working). I have tried to update firmware through xbox accessories app which did find new firmware but stuck on configure and syncing data... so far, I didn't see any difference here. As a giant IT company, MS should do better than this....:steamsad:

Try steps below:

1.Update firmware through Xbox Accessories App.
2.Update Windows 10 (It might be useful!)
3.Remove controller from Bluetooth device list and reconnect it. (Important step!!!)

Now my new controller works well in games via Bluetooth.

PS: Some buttons are still not working in Steam Big Picture Mode. But it is fine, just use your mouse instead. Steam should officially support new Xbox controller soon!

I updated and no changes. I should mention that I'm only having trouble with one game and it's a not that big a deal because it's Fallout Shelter and only the triggers don't work (for zooming in and out) but still, it shouldn't be that way especially since everything worked fine for the past few years with no changes made by me.

I have the same issue with Fifa21

So I downloaded the newest Steam client beta, which took care of the problem.
