Steam not Letting Me Move Install Folder from My Default
I have a solid-state drive for my C drive and a 1TB external hard drive for my E drive. For space purposes, the E drive is the default and the location for all my games. As far as I can tell, the C drive still hosts the steam client itself as well as save games, mods, among other smaller tidbits. When I go to settings to add/remove/view install locations, it has both C and E listed, with 76 games installed on E and 0 on C (checks out). I can't set any other location within the C drive as a download location because, according to steam, it already has such a location on the C drive.

When I go to a game I want to move (I've attempted this with a couple games), I go Properties>Local Files>Move Install Folder...>then the dropdown menu only shows the E drive, which the game is currently on. I don't know why the C drive isn't showing up here. I can't seem to find anywhere online or in steam support or discussions talking about this particular issue. Can I manually grab the folder from the E drive and move it to C, or do I have to do it through the steam menus? Do I need to uninstall/reinstall steam? Does the steam client need to be on the E drive? halp, am confused.

Most will had said why have you not moved it to E , and thts the default steam install now. but you want go back to C, i get ask then i want to install something , so either you need to reparing the empty steam lib at C, not sure what has happend , or you have uncheck it under download multi steam librays added, or you have a bug with it.

but yes , stand on a game and use move to C , can only be done if multi steam lib is there. and ofc. have room for it.

please test this with a small game first.

if you have writeable rights issue then its security or access right with windows User profile and require Full Controll, not sure what did that but i bet it happend doing a security update or windows core update, just like you , i had that installed at c once in a a time ( its a laptop ) had issue with recreate a multi lib again , quite odd. i did not had rights to own program files (x86) any more. but it dont sounds like that issue.
