Cannot take screenshots

I'm playing Stranded Deep on a laptop, it plays fine except I cannot take screenshots that can be uploaded. When I press F12 nothing happens. I've changed the hotkey in settings 2X and still no luck. I can take a screenshot using Windows key + Alt + PrtSc but it says it is for XBox and the screenshots do not show up in and are not accessible for uploading. I've searched the help topics and see that this was an issue back in 2013-2015 but those threads are closed.
Also, is there some way to upload the shots I have taken using the method above? I have them stored in the same folder that screenshots should be going in to.

Thanks Spawk. The Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game was checked. There was one other box checked that says: "Use Desktop Game Theatre when launching a desktop games while SteamVR is active. "
It says that the Shift+Tab combination are the Overlay shortcut keys

I am unsure if there is other screen capture software is on the computer but I think xBpx has screenshot software running since I can take a screen check and the dialog box says xBox.

You can try OBS or Mirillis Action. OBS is free. Action has simple interface

You can take a screenshot on Xbox Game Bar

if none of the above work, take a windows screenshot instead by pressing windows key + prt sc sysrq

I can take a screenshot using xbox method but cannot figure out how to upload them or even get them to appear in the Steam interface
