Change location of the temporary downloaded files
I discovered this cool feature i hope you guys find it helpful for there is no way steam would ever listen to its users and implement the use of user selected temporary folders to use with downloads such as game updates or games them selves.

I have 256GB SSD. Downloading a patch for ARK for example is impossible without reserving nearly half of that drive to just one game because it will download hundreds of gigabytes into P:\Steam\steamapps\downloading folder and overfill the drive with giving low space warnings.

Anyway.
Solution is to re-link the P:\Steam\steamapps\downloading to somewhere else, like Z:\downloading which is another hard drive with lots of available space.

HOW ?

Step 1: Delete existing "downloading" folder located inside steamapps
and create "downloading" folder on another drive such as Z:\downloading
Step 2: Run the command below
mklink /j "P:\Steam\steamapps\downloading" "Z:\downloading"
Obviously you need to make sure path to where steam is installed and path where you want to have temporary download folder need to be matched to what you have on your system
Step 3 After running the command, the steamapps\downloading folder will look like a shortcut.
When you open that shortcut, the address bar will show you that you are still on the same drive, but when steam downloads files, files will actually go to another drive as we specified above.

To reverse back to default, just delete the shortcut and thats it.

Yes, symbolic links are not new and are suggested in many threads.
