Freakishly slow download speeds
Hello everyone,

Is anyone else noticing REALLY SLOW download speeds? Like, from 300KBps to 2.5MBps at most? I am used to download games at 50 to 60 MBps (I have an 500Mbps internet connection) and regions on europe appear to have become slugish!

I usually am on Portugal and have changed to Spain and France and the speeds stay the same.
Have contacted some friends here in Portugal and they are experiencing this too.

Is anyone else on the same boat? I'm taking 5hours to download CS:GO. I download it in usually 2 mins top.

EDIT: To clear up some confusion, the slow download speeds are not just for CS:GO. Apex Legends, Rocket League, Yakuza 0 have all been downloading with the same 300KBps - 2 MBps range.

I have the same problem, but I don´t know what I have to do.
Same. From what I've been learning, I hope this is a temporary issue maybe related to the CS:GO update on their servers or something...

But it is quite annoying. Some people are telling to change regions to something other than the EU to temporarily fix this :/
Sounds like own ISP region issue, but then that is said sure steam server could have issue.

Network is like water pipes , then full it will effect some with no room left or get slow.
this is a roughly explanations, but frequent used terns to learn people about network.

and i dont want to say own end equipment issue then you already have confirm other in same boat as you.

get ISP on your side. that the key here, where is the problem, best ISP already know a issue with it partner's before user even know.

but that dont mean they will call every end user , thats impossible , so its your job to know is ISP have a SMS service about work issue.

Thanks for the answer m8! I thought it was an end user problem (PC or router) so I reset the router and tried steam on another computer with the same problem.

Then, ISP was my later option so I called some of my mates with other ISPs to know if they were having a similar issue and there sure were plenty of complains. The thing is it doesn't seem a widespread issue and that is what baffles me. I heard some complaints on reddit but they were on special reddits (Destiny 2 and other games) from yesterday complaining about the speeds and changing regions to Turkey to solve it.

I don't know if they are from the EU or if they have something in common so I opened this up in hopes that more people join in to figure if it's the servers or not.

But seing as little have complained, either there is no problem, or seing as the problem is with download speeds and not exacly with gaming latency, there won't be many complains.
muito legal
thats the problem with network you need alot of experience and yet you can still make mistakes about it.
i bet you can see the diffrence in games server issue and dL server is 2 diffrent things, unless its a network that effect both in same area, and have nothing to do with each other, other then access same routes in the cloud. and yet you can be fooled , by service prioirity on the 2 things, its complicated and simple depend on know what ISP did . and we dont know that ISP traffic , out of our hands. and not our problem. ( other then contact them about it. )

if not own end , then you have ISP and steam only as support. ( or game server devs ( Host the server ) )

I know this is old but is a recurring problem. I just want to say that I found a YT video that has helped me resolve this. Requires 2 storage media's and works best with two SSD's. I have SSD and HDD and I just went to 2.5MB/s to what is presently now 29.9 MB/s. Symlinked Cache. I would imagine w/ SSD's it would go even higher, or if i was downloading to my SSD instead of my HDD too.
