IE if some rando calls my desk where I work I politely redirect them to the proper support channels. I'm not on the hook to deal with them just because they managed to put digits into a phone...
You do realize I can take my cellphone and record a message saying Thank you for calling Valve right? Doesn't make it official
However even if you reach Valve's offices someone isn't going to call you back over support issues. They will delete your voicemail.
That is fact. There is no phone number to contact steam support. The only way to contact Valve technical support is through the online help system.
There is a number to call Valve HQ but it's not a technical support number they do not provide technical support over the phone. It's their office number for staff to call in sick and/or communicate with affiliates. It's not a technical support number.
Anyone can set up a voice mail outgoing message or IVR (Interactive Voice Respons - the annoying robotic voice thing "press 1 for this, 2 for that, or dial the extension if you know it") and have it say whatever they want. If the number you called claims to be Valve Technical Support it's a scam because no such thing exists.
