Is having multiple accounts the only way to play multiple purchased games at the same time?

I went to play a game last night, only to find that my account was locked out because I already had a game running on my laptop. I wasn't looking to play the same game twice on two different computers, I'm just looking to be able to play two different games.

The easy fix seems to be make a new steam account for every game I purchase. But that seems like a lot of work just to support the same feature as if I was buying multiple games outside of steam.

Google search turns up several posts from 5+years ago with no better answer.

Yes, that's the only way.

You cant family share a game if the owner is playing the game in question
