RegeMoudal Nintendo Switch Controller Compatibility with Steam

While travelling I brought my Regemoudal Nintendo Switch controller to play some games on Steam. When the controller is connected to my PC via Bluetooth Steam recognizes it as sets it as a Pro Controller. However, I can't get any of the buttons to function. If I go into Big Picture/Settings/Controllers I can see that it is a connected controller and I can even use the Identify to toggle the rumble feature. Has anyone run into compatibility issues with third-party controllers and Steam?

Slight update to this.
If the controller is connected via Bluetooth it registers as a Nintendo Switch Controller. No button presses are broadcast in a way that a PC understands.
If the controller is plugged in to the PC is registers as an Xbox controller.
If the controller is plugged in and the H is held it registers as a PS3 controller.

New problem:
Steam recognized the controller as all three. When in 'Xbox' mode the H button didn't bring up the overlay. I opened the controller info in the controller options and it seems that the controller doesn't transmit that button. So I held it. This caused the controller to change to a PS3 controller and crash Steam Big Picture. Now Steam doesn't recognize any of the controller modes. I rebooted, but Steam is still ignorant to the controller.

I guess I need to clear out a cache of controller data within Steam? Antimicro can still detect each controller mode. Steam doesn't.

I did some more digging and after clearing all the data in Steam's appcache I rebooted and loaded Steam again. Once Steam loaded I used the options in the top left (not Big Picture mode) and navigated to the controller options. Within this menu there was an 'Unhide' button. Clicking that seem to allow Steam to broadcast that the controller was detected again.

All seemed well...

Now back to the compatibility of this Chinese controller and Steam. When wired, the other mode that allows the use of Back, Start, and Home is the is PS3 mode. Once plugged in via USB the Home button needs to be held until only the 2nd LED it lit.

Fun stuff. Good game. Time to play.
