Minecraft crashes when launched through steam

I cannot play games with keyboard and mouse, it hurts my hand to play games with keyboard and mouse for long periods of time, so i added Minecraft to my steam library (you can add non steam apps to your steam library) but when i launch it through steam the Minecraft Launcher works fine and the controls work fine, but when i hit play it shows the Mojang loading screen and then just freezes after loading partway. if i click on the screen i get the message "Minecraft is not responding" and the options to wait or close app. the typical message you get when your game crashes.

Did you add it as a "Non-Steam Game" ?

Also try to right click on the game's properties if it has one and disable the Steam Overlay there.

@the_bl00per did you figure this problem out, because I am having the same one. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you add it as a "Non-Steam Game" and did you check the game's properties aswell, and disabled Steam Overlay, if there is one?
