Maybe new fake bot scam
I have just been scammed today. I never done something like this ever and the first time i do it i get scammed. Welp i learned my lesson. I have sent a ticket and i will not send the profile of the scammer here since it's innapropriate. So here's the scam:
1. They tell you that they want to trade you a knife for tf2 keys
2. You buy the keys from lootfarm (or another equivalent)
3. After you get your keys he will tell you to put them in bitskins
Here's the scam
4. You click sell items and you sell the keys for 9999$ each. The trade offer won't go through since the maximum you can sell them is 7000$
5. He sends you a trade offer from his fake bot. I didn't see the error that said that the maximum price is 7000$
6. He takes your items.
I have sent and reported this person and apparently I can't get my items back. I have read somewhere that they may do a one time thing and i really hope they do that but i lost all of my hope already. I haven't lost that much money but it was still my money. Never trusting these people again. Never make my mistake.

Scammed items are not returned. You used a scam site and were scammed. It's working as intended.
I am not sure i see the logic.
They tell you to put up the keys which cost 2,50 for 9999?
What was the supposed event to happen?

Bitskins is legit.

No, no it is not.

NO off-steam site is legit for steam items. NONE of them are 'safe'.

Bitskins is legit. He tricked me into thinking that their bot sent me the trade offer but it was his bot.
You can't include the words 'bot' and 'legit' in the same sentence.

He said "so nobody buys them". I really don't know. I trusted him too much.
Pro tip: always use common sense. That, and a basic understanding of phishing will protect you from all scams there are.

What was wrong with just using Steams trade system? Stick the keys in the trade window and have them put their knife in it. No other site required.

Why is it the simplest methods not obvious to some people? :steamfacepalm:

I know none of them are truly 100% safe and they could turn evil or just shut down randomly in one day. But I trust bitskins, if you don't than that's your opinion.

I know i know... but i never used bitskins that much and i didnt know how it worked so instead of understanding how the site works i just did what he wanted me to do.
That's not using common sense. What you mean, is factoid knowledge, knowing something, knowing how sometihng works.

Common sense doesn't rely on such knowledge. Common sense protects against everything, including wholly new scams because common sense is timeless.

You really need to brush up on your common sense if your reply is "I didn't know how it worked". Because that's not what common sense is.

People can get their accounts completely hijacked simply by attempting to login to some malicious 3rd party sites which use phishing windows.

If you are unsure about how anything works then don't do it. We've seen users lose inventory items worth $4,000+ before and users paying out $1000+ to 'Steam admins' to have their accounts 'verfied' upon deposit.

If someone tells you to do something, it is not for your benefit and if you don't understand it, you will get absolutely rinsed and have your account at risk on top.
