username "trick"?

i saw this profile while browsing through steam:

so the name is on the right side beside the small arrow on which you can click to see his recent steam name. usually its on the left side. and ive never seen that before.

someone know who this works?

They appear to have entered two RTL Isolate[www.unicode-symbol.com] unicode characters before their username.

This has effectively broken the SteamID field in their profile XML and causes the arrow to display in a different position on the actual profile.

do you know where i have to insert these characters to get the same effect? i assume this is some scriptlanguage process

oh yeah i forgot to say, i tried that several times after you told me about these special unicode characters. tried it in various combinations, like: one RTL before and after the name, two RTL after the name, two before the name (the suggested one) and so on. unfortunately not working.

but thank you for providing me info about it. very helpful! now i know at least parts of the ingredients to do this.

I assumed you just paste the characters before the username.

Eg. Visit the link I posted in the above message. Click inside the 'easy copy/paste box'. Right click > Select all. Right click > Copy. Now return to Steam and edit your profile. When you type in the username, right click > paste twice. (That should enter the 'invisible' RTL character twice.) Then type your username.

Save your profile edit and hopefully that will do it. If that doesn't work, then I'm not sure how they did it.

Weird! This is how a unicode character identifier identifies their steamID (screenname):

U+E0021 : TAG EXCLAMATION MARK

Maybe the U+E0021 characters I overlooked are the secret to making this glitch work?
