Problem creating shortcuts.

Hey guys, I have recently reinstalled my windows and i installed my games, (Saved Steamapps) so im fine with re-download games etc.

My problem is the game recognizes everything I can even run it, but I can't create shortcuts

It's says :

Could not create shortcut.
A shortcut to this game is probably already on the desktop.

Now the funny thing is, its not and i installed a new game, a minigame just to test it and it occurs the same problem.

I even tried with a fresh new Windows 10 pro on Virtual Machine and on my Laptop as well , and my main PC.

The problem still is there.

Anyone else having the same issue with?

I can confirm the problem. I just did a clean install of windows 10 yesterday and now Steam is giving me the same error and refuses to create a shortcut. It works if I run the Steam as administrator, but that means it can't be automatically started at startup.

I also found some other posts about this problem posted quite recently, and we all did a windows reinstall.

I hope Valve notices this and fixes it as it looks like a bug.

No problem ;) It almost drove me mad yesterday. I reinstalled windows three times and google wasn't helping me much.

And today posts about shortcuts keep showing up. And we all reinstalled windows.

same here had it now for 2 days at first thought it was windows install gone wrong, so downloaded new iso and still got the issue. cant seem to fix it
