mic doesn't work in games.. but works in discord
Hey.. My mic used to work just fine in everything but all of a sudden a couple weeks ago it stopped working in-game. It doesn't get picked up by any of my games and it doesn't even get piced up in the steam settings when I try to test it. It still works fine in discord but it's really annoying that it doesn't work in any of my games.. pubg, fortnite, h1z1, csgo, overwatch, rainbow six siege etc... The only fix I saw for it was to uninstall gefore experience, so I did that but it still doesn't work... any ideas.. please?

i dont know why but my mic works in games like overwatch csgo and ranbow six but it doesn't work in comedy night and for some reason it sounds like a vacuum cleaner in fortnite
Did you fix it? I have the same problem, i think discord is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ and it what is causing the problem but i need both discord and in game chats. ♥♥♥♥ why nobody uses teamspeak
Hi, I recently had this exact same problem so i started looking for fix so thats when i stumbled on this discussion, so yeah sorry for being over a year late, but if you havent fixed it yet i found a fix. Open your sound settings and then click on the manage sound devices underneath the input section and make sure that your microphone is the only one on it

I don't know if others here are having similar problems to me or if future people will have my problem but I solved the issue myself to which i posted on reddit. my issue was having multiple input devices recognized by windows 10 and it was auto using the wrong one even though i had set it to use the correct one by default. Even for the programs themselves to use the correct one, to which they still didn't. Had to disable them so only my primary was able to be used.

Yeah discord by default uses what ever is set as default through windows. So will games. Not sure why no one said that to begin with...

i finally found a solution but you have to download some software. Just look up "Voicemeeter" and download it, set it up, put in your input and output devices, set VoiceMeeter as your default recording and playback devices then it should work for everything

^^ please mark as an accepted solution
Your sound settings are setup incorrectly by the sounds of things. Voicemeeter is a great program how ever a third party program should not be the final solution.

You need to have your default recording device as the default communication device and your output as default. Set discord to default and it will use the devices you set as default.

It may take some tinkering but it all needs to be setup properly through your computer settings.

Thank you! Apparently the problem was that my input device was set up as a voicechanger which i had uninstalled a while back. I had to set it back to my headset and it worked for all my games.

Here you go bro I use RTX voice now instead which I recommend if you have an NVIDIA GPU, otherwise there’s the link for voicemeeter 👌
