Is there a key for the recording?
Hi all. I have a question. How do you record gameplay on steam? Do I need to bring the overlap up while in-game?

Steam can do live streaming, but no recording.

So I have to use another program to record video of gameplay? Nvidia Geforce Experience?

For example, OBS is also a popular (free) tool to stream and record video.

I don't have that, but I do have Nvidia Geforce Experience.

Free to use, free to download.

But if NGE does same thing, then I don't need to download anything else.

Yeah, NGE does recording. I wasn't able to assemble its multi-file-videos when I tried that at one point, though -- but that might just be the software I used (I think I tried avidemux).

Geforce Experience can and will record your screen. For me I have tried several different screen recorders and Geforce Experience was difficult for me to get working very well so I use OBS studio. It's free, easy to use, easy to set up, has all the options that are needed. Do try OBS, but if you prefer Geforce...use whatever you prefer. I know that several youtube gamers that share their game play use Geforce Experience and it works great for them. It was clunky for me and it doesn't have as many options and features as OBS studio does.

OBS Studio and Geforce Experience only records. You will need different software if you want to edit your videos. Video editing software is a different subject. I don't usually edit the videos I make of games I screen recorded. I use Adobe Premiere when I have a need to edit videos. Windows has video editing software available that's free.

In GFE you can bind keys that will start and stop recording. I think mine is alt + z but I set it manually as I didn't like their setup.
