Fortnite is a goofy 3rd person only (means defense always has advantage) BR game with building elements. They jumped onto the BR train because the maingame of Fortnite looked fun, but in the core was a grind or pay mode and was met with dissaproval. So they made a BR game to get a good chunk out of the BR cake early on. More BR games will follow, Fortnite made it's mark after PUBG.
The thing which bothers me with it and why i don't wanna play it is, that you can't switch the crosshair position with the shoulder camera swap, like you should be able to in any selfrespecting TPS. So you are forced by the game to prefere right corners over left corner. Even PUBG has it which was 3rd person initially. Or Max Payne 3 had this, or APB Reloaded is a good example. This simple feature is on their roadmap like 5 months,. You might consider this not important, personally i consider this an essential feature for any TPS game.
