Steam keeps asking me to re-register my PS4 Controller
Sometimes it brings up a list of users I've never heard of, and if it is long enough tne button to "register to this account" isn't even viewable to click.

How do I stop this? It's getting super annoying.

Mind taking a screenshot of that prompt?

Mine just syncs up correctly when I press the [PS] -button once. I've only ever had to pair it up with my Asus BT-400 adapter by holding down [PS] and [OPTIONS] -buttons down, and then adding it as a Bluetooth device.

Under [Steam > Settings > Controller] > [General Controller Settings]:

Do you have multiple accounts there?
Nope it has zero accounts listed there. Although when it does decide to do what I'm talking about there would be multiple accounts listed there, even though every time after deleting the accounts I register to my own account.
Still having this issue...
Same here. I'm using Sony's official wireless adapter with my PS4 controller, and every so often it will do the same thing as your getting. I'd hazard a guess that a lot of these share the same identifier code, so steam can't differentiate one from another.
Can't help as I still don't use Steam support for DS4. If you can't find a fix or get read up doing repeating the fix.

I've used ScpToolkit for years and only recently switched to DS4Windows. Never had to reconnect, re-register my DS4 using either method. DS4Windows has more options and doesn't take complete control of Bluetooth adapter so I'd recommend that one.

You get ABXY button prompts ingame but it really doesn't take long to get used to their Square, Rectangle, X and Circle counterparts.

Watch out, sometimes games that natively support the ds4 will take your controller as two and double every input when ds4windows is active (rocket league does that for me sometimes)

DS4Windows has a 'Hide DS4 controller' option for games like that, not had to test it myself. SCPToolkit didn't but I never encountered that problem with it.

They need to stop matching these between accounts if there are shared identifiers of the controllers.

It makes no sense that some other users who have no access to my account are getting matched.

Although I wonder if it is something else considering I'll see different names almost every single time.
