Need Help: Someone randomly sent me a CD Key for gmod
A Friend I’ve had on steam for a while now sent me a message saying ‘merry Christmas ‘, and sent me a gmod cd key. Should I activate it, I’m worried that there is some way he can claim it back at get my account or something. Thanks.

He can't do anything like that, he probably got it from humble bundle but you should ask him if you want to make sure.

Yeah he got it from humble bundle I already asked
someone would need to have credited 10 keys to your account to do that. and even then they'd have to know your name, personal information, tax info, credit card numbers, etc.
I wouldn't activate anything that was randomly sent. It would be better if they gifted the game through a Steam purchase.

nothing wrong with using 1 key someone sends you, to reclaim an account you need atleast 10.

one of the ways to prove you're the owner of an account is to supply 10 cd keys. i've saved all my cd keys for every game.

This is not true, this user is constantly spreading misinformation.

I have to say this is bs AND it is true.
In case you say hey my profile has been hacked, and your account suddenly got and instantly accepted +10 steam games (which should empty ANY steam-wallet). Steam will try to find out if it indeed got hacked, how big the damage is and how normal it looks like.

It's bull**** that after 10 keys your account can get claimed. But he is right that if it happens really quickly after eachother and you claim it back. He can only claim the games back and no the full account.

For you: There is no damage, just accept it and take it :) He can't do ♥♥♥♥. You even got proof on this forum currently that IF he requests a claim, you can "proof" that it is not true!

it's literally one of the ways to reclaim your account under https://help.steampowered.com/en/ , you still need to provide other information though.
