I need some software recommendations for building and viewing 3D objects please
Hi.

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask but I hope I can get some quick answers to get me started with 3D modelling.

My goal is to make a video file of a spinning logotype representing a company. Something like this
https://archive.org/details/BlackMesaMonitorScreensaver_20150907

I was thinking in order to achieve that I need to create a 3D model object using it's logo picture as a texture and trimming out the excess volume around the logo itself.
Then I want this object to spin continuously (like a spinning coin) so I can record it with NVIDIA shadowplay (if this program has a built-in recorder, then it's also good). I have tried UnrealEd (from unreal tournament 2004) in one of my previous objects in order to achieve my goal but using a game engine like this didn't seem like an optimal variant for me.

Then I can put this video file into Sony Vegas Pro and edit it. Lastly I can create a GIF using online services with it then.

Any suggestions? Freeware or shareware doesn't really matter but freeware would be easier to acquire for me.

You would probably be interested in one or more of the programs from Autodesk. They have several acclaimed paid programs, but I know they also have quite a few (less sophisticated) free programs for 3D modeling as well. Check their website.

Edit: Here, I found this for you:

Very comprehensive list of free modeling programs.

Thanks man!

Do you know if those programs allow a "play" mode as in viewing the object in full screen with selective background color and somehow instruct them to move or spin? Is that possible?

Most of those programs have a "preview" mode, or even a real-time "live" mode. But as far as adding music and such, then likely no-- that's not what those programs are for. However, the majority of them will allow you to export your model to other formats, an AVI video file for example. You could then import this file into any number of video editing programs (my favorite is "ShotCut") and from there you can jazz it up with music, backgrounds, overlays, even 'green screen' type stuff. You should read the summaries on that list I linked to; it explains what each program's primary features are.
I'll do that. Thanks.
I did mention, that I will use Sony Vegas to tweak my project. I have quite some experience with it. I only need to extract a video file showing a spinning logotype model. That's where I was stuck.

To do a spinning logo, a 3D modeling/CAD program may be overkill. You might want to try basic animation software instead. In fact, IIRC, Sony Vegas has plug-ins/filters available which could allow you to do animated title effects and such right in the program.
