Games freezing, can't close with taskmanager

I built a new pc with

ASROCK z370 killer sli/ac mb
Intel core i7 8700k
16GB 2800 DDR4 RAM
MSI 1080ti DUKE
Toshiba SSD

When playing games, it keeps freezing and I can't close with task manager.
I can open the task manager, but I would have to WIN+Tab and open a new desktop to close the game, and when I restart, it happens again.

It's happened with C&C3, Ark, and CS:GO... basically only games I play.

what could be the reason?

When the game freezes, it just stays on the game screen where it froze and I can't do anything.

heat is not an issue. both my CPU and GPU were running very cool.

Hi, im going to assume your operating sytem and graphics drivers have been updated. first id run a memory check ( press the Windows logo key and R at the same time to start a Run command. Type mdsched.exe in the run box and hit Enter.) see if that reports any errors , my ram was bad when i built my pc and it caused crashes
