Downloading games kills my internet connection
Hello everyone, what's up? For the past week or so I've been having a problem with steam downloads.
All of a suden, when I try to download a game, steam kills the internet connection for my PC and every device connected to the modem. Like yellow triangle warning in the LAN icon, my cellphone looses access to internet, the download of the game stops because I no longer am connected. It works just fine for a couple of minutes, but when the download gets to about 1 GB, the speed starts to slow down ultil it gets killed (for my PC and every other device in the network)

I tried solutions already posted on steam forums but nothing worked. I'm directly connected to the modem with an ethernet cord. The game I'm downloading is Homefront the revolution, and I'm on Windows 10 if that matters. One of the changes I tried was disabling both options in the shared connection tab on the properties of my internet connection, as well as using google DNS. It worked just fine untill I had to pause the downlaod, when I resumed it the internet connection died again.

I tried setting a download limit within steam, to uncheck the little box that limits download while streaming, and to clear the download cache options.
The issue is only with steam, I downloaded BFV in origin, modern warfare in the blizz app, drivers for my gpu, and they all worked just fine. I even formated my PC and made a clean install. I just don't know what else to do.

If anyone knows someway to fix this, I would very much appreciate it.
Thank you all very much for your time.

Your router is the likely culprit. First, disable filtering & "security" options. Consumer hardware doesn't do that right, I had Steam's server browser triggering my router's DDoS "protection" thus killing the connection.
If that doesn't help, factory-reset the router. If that doesn't help, see if throttling Steam's download speed helps. Starting Steam with the -tcp parameter my be worth a shot as well.

I have to check how to disable those options in my modem, but I'll give it a go when I get home.
It was really weird since it never did anything like that before.

Thank you very much for the tip.

update router software + own netcard drivers, that 30sec disconnect is know as poisen revesed, that means something went wrong at network, and lines are shutdown, (no longer connected)
problem is your end, its so rare its actual isp faulth, that can only be wrong configuration, i mean better chance to win lotto, i only mentions this it can happend ofc.

Problem is, it's not a 30 sec disconect. Some times it goes down for 10 minutes, some times for hours. Netcard drivers should be up to date too.

talk with the ISP , could be best advice, do mention current time issue, because this seem to fall out of standard. no one get 10minute colddown unless ISP try to fix what is wrong.
Set steam downloads to a speed slower than your max.
