I have a old game Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, there is a code inside on box, but steam not accept it, help me

You sure it is a Steam key and not a Ubisoft key?

Ubisoft games often use Uplay, not Steam.

If Steam isn't mentioned on the box, then the key isn't for Steam.

my old ut 2004 code was accept on steam, so why in steam cant accept my code on this game? i see on sell list.

Not all retail games are Steam redeemable.

It could even be a standalone version where the wizard requires activation. Might not be redeemable on any major platform. Some games are like that.

yeah this is as i recall old disk serial nr that is need doing installation, and not part of any client reg.

i think i did read about back then, something they are not unique enough and cant be use as user registrations key.

if other know better say so. it's to long ago i read this about registrations on keys to use with a game on network.

I suggested something similar above. Some of my really old games needed a retail key during installation but were not part of any client. Though from the same era that Chaos Theory came out.

i just wondered, why cant activate the code here, to be honest, not really like this game, as much as pandora tomorow, pandora tomorow its hell better then this 1, sadly ubisoft not add this game on steam. probable buy pandora if i see that game on steam.

because it is not a steam activation code. if you put a game on steam and you want to sell boxed versions (or sell keys on 3rd party sites), you have to contact Steam and request key codes. steam then sends you a batch of codes and you decide which codes go in the box and which codes are going to be sold thru 3rd party sites.

a steam code does not work on Epic, a code from Epic does not work on steam, a Rockstar code does not work on steam. that is how the codes work, each has their own format for the codes and they do not work on other platforms.

Valve allows publishers to add their keys from non-steam versions for verification so we can activate them here. A couple did that in the early years, now none do.

Wrong. Euro Truck Simulator 2 allows this. The retail copy does not require Steam but can be activated on Steam

1 last question, so i check all my buyed game box, and this is all i find that i see on steam

Deus Ex Invisible War <---- surprise for cant reg it here :D cause there is a online activation code inside of box
and 3 sold out game :D Sacrifice + Soul Reaver and last Incoming Forces :)
What you think? if i contact to the publisher maybe they get 1 free activation code to steam?
