My friend gave me a link to redeem a gift he got for me, I clicked the link and got the following messaage:

Oops, sorry!
An error was encountered while processing your request:

This gift is no longer available for you to redeem. The sender has either restored the gift to their inventory or sent it to someone else.
______________________________________________________

I'm very close to my friend, we know each other irl, so there's no foul play going on. Could this be a steam error? Ive heard of this happening before but I see no obvious way of getting help from them on this issue. If anyone has an ideas please let me know, or does anyone know how to contact customer services?

Also, on his end, it says the gift is activated.

Make sure its not actually in your library. Sometimes you get an error like that but it still was added.

It is definitely not in my library, I never clicked a button to accept the game or anything like that.

Having the exact same problem. 2 games gifted from bother, one worked the other one give the exact same message as indicated above.

Ask your friend. They can send the gift to another user or refund it if you have not accepted the gift yet.

I did accept the gift but I will follow up with the sender and see if it show as being accepted
