Someone registered an account using my email
I know it's weird, but someone really registered an account using my email address which obviously didn't have an access with the email. I only found out that someone registered it using my email because I received an email saying that I have added a phone number on that specific account.

Here's the email:
Hello {username here} -"the actual username is inside the email that's why i know i don't have any account with that user name"
A phone number (ending in xx) has been added to your account.
If you did not do this, your account may have been compromised. Please change your password immediately, or contact Steam Support.

So, to verify if it's not a phishing email. the email it was sent from is noreply@steampowered.com
and in addition to this to check if the account is valid/existing, I tried to request for a password reset for the said account, and it sent me an "access code" to access the account but didn't proceed as it might cause a login issue with the real "owner". That account might be important to him.

My question is how can I contact steam to correct this? Or maybe remove my email address from that account?

Thank you

That's pretty weird since you need to confirm your email to register an account.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Just searched my email for any "registration" email associated with that username inside my inbox but didn't find any. Is it possible that the owner of that account just recently tried to change his email and accidentally inputted the wrong email address(which is my email)?

No, as it needs to be confirmed by clicking a link in an e-mail.
Consider your e-mail account compromised, and everything related to it.

Does that apply for changing the email of steam?

I don't think my e-mail account has been compromised/hacked. Just checked the recent devices that accessed my email and there wasn't an unknown device who access it. Also, I have authenticator for gmail that prevents others from accessing my email without my phone.

I am not sure what happens if you change the email to a new one.

But it just looks unlikely that someone wanted to infiltrate an email, and then going to make this all visible by using it for a steam account and leaving the trace for the owner.

Thanks for all the help. Just contacted steam by submitting a ticket and they resolved the issue by removing my email address from the said account.

How did you do this? Where can I find the email/service?
