Issues with steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net

I've had this super weird problem for months and I can't figure it out. Some images, like profile pictures and achievements, are not loading. This happens only on my computer, regardless of what network it is connected to. It happens in the Steam client and in Chrome, but for some reason in IE it works fine.

I've narrowed down the problem to this: all of the images that fail to load are requested from steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net, and the request times out. images requested from other Akamai domains, like steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net, load fine.

This is super frustrating and I can't figure out what's causing this problem. Any ideas?

Good to hear that I'm not crazy and other people are also facing this issue.

The weirdest thing to me is that it seems browser related since it works fine in IE, but it only happens on my computer, even after reinstalling Windows.

Totally same problem - uninstalled steam to reinstall as last resort now I cant reinstall steam ... because when clicking install "This site can’t be reachedsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net took too long to respond."

After much troubleshooting I recommend you look at your DNS, that has fixed it. I have switched back to 4.2.2.2 and instantly images are loading on steam site and the connection to steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net works now allowing reinstallation. Alternatively, try a DNS flush.

Changing DNS for IPV4 to 4.2.2.2 (alt 8.8.8.8) fixed issue for me!
