What is the most rare in the Steam hierarchy.
In swedish it's "ovanlig" and "sällsynt".

English translation should be "unusual" and "rare".

It's the same in general. Don't have to be specific since it's the same words used whether it's a smiley or a background etc...

I just want to know what Steam classifies as the most rare of the two.

I would think the order from least rare to rarest would be

common>uncommon>unusual>rare>very rare>rarest

or something of that nature

Great help. Thanks.

Is there actually a "rarest" classification?

I don't know. Just giving an example of how I would do it.

oh ok. you may want to add that into your title. I think that's why the first poster responded the way he did.

Are you asking what the rarest item on the Steam Market is?

No lol. =D

I'm asking how the Steam hierarchy is. The "order of rare" amongst items/backgrounds/etc.

In my world this is a really simple question, but maybe I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up when trying to explain what I'm looking for here.

EDIT: How Steam "classifies" stuff. Say, you get a new background, when collecting all cards for a game. If you look at it in your library you should see something like "rare" or "unusual" or "common" when reading the description for the item....

What is the order of this.......lowest to highest.

The common/uncommon/rare means a jack in cards/backgrounds/emotes.

There are common backgrounds which are worth multiple times of other rare backgrounds. It depends what it shows, the game from it is, the demand on market after it.

Example:

CS GO/TF2/Dota2 foil card or rare background - not more as 10-20 cents
Non-indie anime (Neptunia, Sonico) game cards or backgrounds - 1-5 USD, have seen even up to 20 dollars

Ah ok.

So what u mean, pay no attention to the description?

The "market economy" rules as always then? ;)

God I love to be a capitalist :alphys:

Rarest is determined by the market price.

If you would mean rarity itself, perhaps cards from games which have been removed from Steam and now there is no other way to get them (unless the owners dont make them via booster crafing).
On other hand cards from such games are not seeked extensively, so price isnt going to skyrocket.

Complicated stuff, dont dig yourself too deep. :cinnamon2:

Ok. Good post.

So basicly, you don't bother with the object description, aka, how "rare" it is.

(I'm not interested in the monetary value here, I'm just interested in how the stuff is classified by Steam. Or if it's done in some other way - by devs, content creators - and so on....)
