Microphone not working in steam, but the test says it is!
Guys,

I recently just reinstalled Windows 10 and started fresh. I installed the Realtek Audio drivers, and my headphones (Logitech G230's) are working great. So I install a game, and call my friend over steam to play with him. He picks up, but he is saying my voice is extremely choppy and he can't understand me, and I tried this with two other friends. I tested my mic in vocaloo and steam "Test Your Microphone" option, I sound fine for both. Now, when I call my friends, they say they hear me fine at first, and then the sound becomes very choppy after about 5 seconds. I see other threads that say to "Disable Audio Enhancements" in the Sounds control panel, but in my Mic properties, I only see a "Disable all sound effects" in the enhancements tab and nothing in the advanced tab. Ticking that box has changed nothing. Anyone else experiencing this? Any Solutions? Thanks :seagull:

If I go to uninstall a program, the only audio drivers I see there are Realtek and Nvidia.

I have the same headset and mine works fine. How do you connect your headphones to your pc via USB or headphone jack?

Mine came with a headphone jack to USB connector out of the box.

I rarely use steam to talk to friends I always use skype or teamspeak you could try to use one of those or a similair chat program. If the problem presist it might be a driver problem or you have a broken microphone.

If mine did i must have lost them. When I first reinstalled windows it got down ♥♥♥♥♥♥ drivers for them, made the headphones hear things very quietly. So I downloaded Realtek. Before I downloaded Realtek, the mic didn't work at all, but now it's there, just incomprehensibly stutter-y

Guys, I fixed it. All I had to do was pull my headphones out, restart PC without them, go to device manager, delete any drivers relating to the headphones, and restart again and plug them in. It auto installed new drivers and works fine now.
