It will definitely run Skyrim. It meets the requirements. I've run it on much worse.

Yes, it should run very well.
I have a Gtx 660 Ti and the rest of the hardware from the same year and Skyrim often only uses 4 GB RAM, 30% of my CPU and 50% of the graphics card.
I am not using low resolutions or something and I have 1920x1200.

Just did not know how well it would run graphics wise along with frames. To be worth getting or not with light mods. As i dont exactly know alot of the basic or larger terms for pc specs.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to test it.

I can play GTA V, but if I drive fast (driving fast in GTA V, who would do that?) I often see the road without texture. Not so good. But still playable and the game is just very good.

X-Com 2 I just can't run. It crashes. Nothing I can do. I am thinking DirectX and too old system but I am guessing here.

You have the option to give back a game if
1. you bought it directly from steam
2. you did not play more than 2 hours
3. you bought it in the last 2 weeks.

ALL of the above must be true, then you don't even have to give a reason to get your money back. I think your case is exactly one of the reasons they created this refunding system.
Use it!

(I am now over 10 years with steam and I did not refund one game yet.)

I know I'm kind of late here, but I just recently got this exact laptop and it barely runs Skyrim. Even on the lowest settings it runs extremely slow. Am I doing something wrong or is it the laptop?

I havent actually picked up skyrim yet but the laptop is running ARMA 3 fine oddly with like 45 fpsish

Oh, definitely. I ran skyrim on my obsolete laptop (like, the GTX 600M series ancient :P) just fine years ago.
