How to download a game from Steam for free, since I have purchased it elsewhere instead?

I have purchased the game Mount and Blade Warband from the Taleworlds website. Taleworlds is the creator of the game, but I can't download it. I am on a Mac, so it won't work. The only way I can get it is through Steam, but I don't want to purchase it again from Steam. Is there a way to download it for free, from Steam, but somehow proof that it is purchased from the creator? Help!

No. Buy the game on Steam to have it on your account here.

You can try asking the publisher to see if they'll give you a key for Steam.

The developer would need to give you a steam key.

might work (i dont see why it shouldn't)

also ask the devs to revoke the key and issue one for mac

i was thinking it might just install the mac version , worth a try , dont know till you try

It would be a non steam game, with no access to steam game files.
