Lost All My Steam Game Labels, after installing steam on another computer. How do I restore them?

You know how you can label games in your library into certain categories? When installed Steam into a new computer and logged into my account they didn't show, which was fine.
What was less fine is now I came back to my old computer the labels in this computer are gone as well.
Could anyone help me recover them please? And why did it happen?

Yes, I think so? When I turn on steam, go to my Library, look at the left I have two categories: GAMES and VR.

I didn't make those. Those steam makes itself, when the user (me) has created no other categories themselves.

Restarting should fix the issue with the category bug.

The ones that are there by default will always be there.

Lost my categories too when i logged into steam on another PC. I've turned it off and restarted steam on main PC, still everything lumped into Games category.

I tried to restart steam on the old computer, restart the computer and nothing was fixed. So I gave up and just redid my categories.

I think possibly three things might have happened:
1. The "restarting your computer fix" simply doesn't work, or at least in our cases.
2. When I got the bug on the new computer, I made a change to my categories which made the change permanent.
3. When I got the "bug" on the old computer, I made a change to my categories which made the change permanent.
Either way sucks to be us.

Sounds like the config most be inside steam lib as userdata, maybe until we figureout folder name then, its seen as copy it to new pc then.


EDIT removed, sense right path and file is locate now.

The categories is stored in sharedconfig.vdf located at \Steam\userdata\<your steam id>\7\remote

I've made a automated backup of it in-case it happens again

Dont think they will explan why it was removed, they can do as they see fit, and maybe part of valid user data as "Salty Wagyu" point out and let steam user make backup of own data, and something good actual come out of this, maybe one of them steam post senarios atm dont can get old, if people find this post valid enough as most know steam post.
