News In Library

How do I just totally remove it? This wasn't happening in the past but now, it's overwhelming with buy this, buy that new videos and more garbage of the same genre. I'M NOT INTERESTED in it! If I want news or, info on sales, videos and the like, I'll go to the frkn store page and look at it. This new update has just ruined my Library with non-essential ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! It's for my games, not for advertisements galore!

1st, click the cog icon and turn on the visibility settings.

2nd, right click, show less and then right click remove.

Idk if that’s even possible to remove sadly I guess I could be wrong but yeah basically everyone has to deal with the new interface I doubt valve will give us the option to pick the new interface of the previous interface so yeah we are stuck with the new one as far as I know.

Add this to webkit.css in steam folder, resource.

[class*="libraryhome_WhatsNew"] {
display: none !important;
}


It might be reverted at updates. You can also look how to make a skin (its just copy pasting some things in the skins folder.
That way its persistent.

This only removed the news for games you select from the Home Header, not from below where you can post about your game for friends, see achievements earned and the like.

OK, I will try it to see what happens. If it works, I'll select it as the answer. Hopefully, someone with real knowledge from Steam and not just some flunky, will either confirm this or, offer another suggestion.

I used 3 things and made my own skin.

Because steam will not tell you anything or listen to you. They want you to see the newsad.

Just reading that in part makes me sick. Developers have not right to override our preferences in our library. They can actually take all that garbage and put it where the Sun don't shine. Like I said, if I want news, I can go to the store page or, news page if they have one. I really don't care about most of the crap, anyway.

I thought Steam run this place, not all the frkn fly-by-night gamer/developer that just learned how to make games with some frkn app they purchased on Steam. It just makes me not even want to play their games, anymore. They bore me with this garbage.

I placed this at the bottom and restarted Steam, didn't work, news items still there.

And done while steam was off

lol yupp, this is why a lot of users are currently choosing not to buy games from the steam store, and some cleared their wishlists (or removed most name brand games), till Steam gives a simple option to turn off the Whats New shelf, and also makes a basic mode for the new UI or provides a legacy option to use the old one, even if you like the new modern UI we should all have a little better and easily could with minimal effort on Steams part

All that crap lags my library and more. It's pure garbage to push games in our faces. It's like they just beg for more money. The only thing I care about, is the game I have and am playing, screw all that other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I doubt valve will listen to a small percentage of voices cuz who are you going to run to exactly no one except epic store or EA and Ubisoft GOG etc Valve is where it’s at when it comes to games they just have a bigger collection of games etc compared to the other stores.
