Emoticons Breaking, Reappearing, Breaking again and so on...

So after like a week or so of searching for a good place to ask this question i've landed here since the Reddit mods kept on removing my posts. But anyway...

For the past week or so ive been having this issue where seemingly out of nowhere some of my emoticons would just break.

In the emoticon preview they appear just fine as well as in my inventory but as soon as i try to actually use them (with my summary being the worst offender) they just appear as this "broken image file?" (dunno what to call this, for reference click on the imgur link)

Every few or so days, somethimes just hours (or possivbly when i attempt to clear my caches again?) some emoticons that were broken before now work just fine. However if that happens there will always be a few more new emoticons that will now be broken.

I should also note that this ONLY happens in the Steam Application. I tried everything in Chrome and it worked just fine, absolutely no problems at all.

"Solutions" that i've tried:
1. Clearing my Steam Cache
2. Clearing my Steam Webbrowser Cache
3. Completely de-and reinstalling the Steam Application

This has been bugging me so bad for the past week or so and i really hope that at least someone knows even remotely whats going on here.

I think there is not much we can do at the moment. Valve / Steam servers seems to be under stress at the moment with games disapearing for no reason from library. Bio disapearing for no reason. Low download speed, etc...
With Summer sales + lockdown the number of Steam user sky rocketed. We will need to wait until September / October.

yeah go figure. everythings been pretty weird since the servers suddenly went down.

i guess patience is key after all

man, sometimes the censorship on this platform is taken a little to the extreme. Thats the exact reason why i always use leetspeak.

Not really actually. Though morons who suckle at the ADL's and SPLC's racist teats would have you believe so. It is a derivative from the Yiddish קײַקל (kikel or keykl) meaning 'circle'. Jews who were illiterate or simply wished to stay anonymous would use a circle in place of their signature, instead of the X most people used. I got a warning last time I directly answered a similar question here, so let me respond with another question instead: Has Steam ever fixed anything that initially worked and they then broke? Exactly.


Now, I'm curious whether the same emotes are broken for everyone. For me it's and Do you guys see those as image or as text?

This same problem happened with me early this month, first just with one emoji and then with others. I looked for support and they replied this:

"Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue.

Our team is aware of the problem and is investigating the issue further.

Do note that we don't currently have any information regarding when a fix may be issued.

Again, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

So i guess the fix is coming and probably is something related to the high activity the servers are having recently, like the other guys already mentioned above.
Lets be patient guys, if our games are safe here its what matters for real, i like the emojis and my profile customization ^^. but they are secondary feature for me, not a primary one.
We shouldn't be desperate about that either, because, let's think, Steam is here for more than 16 years, our profiles had been working good for around 80-90% of that time.
They already have people looking at it, they know about the bug, it's just a matter of time now, our emojis don't are going anywhere too.
So that's it, if i get any news about that i give a uptade here ; )

Well at least they are acknowledging that this is an issue that needs to be fixed. Good enough for me
