So what your saying is that gift cards do work but if they are gifted from someone it won't activate your account?

Digital Gift cards gifted from other accounts will not work.
Physical Steam wallet cards will work.

If you have logged into any third party site using Steam login details like the one in your username. I suggest not trading at all.

Since you can buy Steam wallet cards online (i.e. from Amazon), the way you're simplyfing it is wrong. Remember that a Steam wallet card works, a Paysafe card works, a digital gift card doesn't. Whether you acquire the Steam wallet/Paysafe card in a store or online, doesn't matter.
