Xbox Controller Big Picture Problems

Hello, I've spent the better part of this afternoon trying to figure this out and I'm coming up completely empty (and the most recent topic of this was from about 2 years ago, with no answers)

Whenever I hold down the bit "X" button on my wireless Xbox controller, it triggers Big Picture Mode. I've tried turning off the controller focus option, it doesn't do anything. I've even tried the workaround of deleting the BPM folder and changing the permissions, but all that did was make it pop up an error instead of BPM.

Has anyone solved this yet? It's apparently been a problem for a long time, and I got annoyed enough tonight to try and fix it with no luck.

Turning off a DS4 controller also does this.

Steam doesn't care. I would love to know who even uses Big Picture mode, but you would think it would be easy enough to give us an option in Settings to completely disable Big Picture so that this doesn't happen to us.

I got the same problem. It suddenly started about a day or two ago for me. I hate Big Picture Mode, especially since I play on my laptop, so I want this to stop. My controller connects using bluetooth so a workaround I found is turning off bluetooth first before turning off my controller. It's annoying but I can't think of another way to stop this.

Ok. I looked around the settings and I found a way to stop Big Picture Mode from triggering. Look in the Guide Button Chord Configuration under Controller settings. In there, Y on the controller is assigned to turn off the controller. Once I hold the Guide button and Y button at the same time for long enough, the controller turns off without triggering Big Picture Mode. It should be similar using other controllers. Don't know why suddenly that's necessary but hope it helps.
