When Proton runs under Linux, you need to tell it where the C: drive is and all kinds of things. The Windows environment inside Proton is kind of a sort of a virtual machine (but not really, it's complicated). I was hoping to be able to run something in the exact same environment as the game ran in.
If I weren't going to do that, I'd probably set up Wine (which is what Proton is based on) and run this tool inside Wine after setting up the approriate Wine environment. I can mess with WIndows files all I want to from Linux, so after I used this tool to do its job, I could just use Linux to do the rest and then run the game again to see if it worked.
The tool is a modding tool. :-)

Would be a better location...
