Connecting a controller using bluetooth turns Steam offline

When I connect my nintendo switch pro controller to my computer using bluetooth, steam goes into offline mode or something. I can't see my friends list or the store or anything like that, and I can't use any online features in games. It's really starting to annoy me and I was wondering if anyone knows any fixes

Er are you using WiFi for internet? Its a long shot given its 2020 but the bluetooth could interfere with the 2.4 ghz band...i guess...still in 2020. That's all I got lol.

I am using 2g wifi I think so maybe that's the problem
