Can someone hack you if you add them as a friend?

There is this guy on steam who keeps trying to get my attention and most likely scam me and constantly telling me to add him. at this point im just about to add him and waste his time as much as i can just so he gets the message and my question is can he do anything to my account if i add him?

obviously im not stupid enough to click links he sends and not gonna fall for ur typical "hey ur items need to be verified or u gotta login to this site" type of trash im just wondering if he can get access to any of my data if i add him as a friend (on steam through steam client) and start a long dumb conversation

if anyone knows if this type of hack is even possible please let me know

fair enough just felt sused out that the same guy been trying to get me to add him for about half a year now and thought it was some new steam hack or something

idk if just tried to insult me since is was a pretty poor atempt but

i could just block him or i could just get his hopes up and waste his time which i feel like would be alot more interesting and more effective than blocking every account he spams me on.

it could be that it's because your inventory of yours is publicly viewable. absolutely your choice to set it that way but there's probably something within that is attracting the attention of those who would scam you. treat those unsolicited friend requests how you wish, just don't fall for anything they present you.

there is no way for them to hack you just by being friends with them, though.

yeah ive been part of the csgo community for 7 years now, nothing particularly special in my inventory just a few skins and ive pretty much dealt with every type of scam on this platform over the years, its just noone has tried this hard to scam me before so im curious what his "master plan" is and being as precistant as he is id imagine it must be good so just had to check in and see if there some steam exploit floating around where friends can hack u or something idk

but yeah i guess there is no way, so im exited to see what this idiot got instore for me thats worth all this effort xD

I would not engage with or talk to scammers. Not only is it a waste of time, but you don't want to accidentally say something that makes it sound like you're scamming them and next thing you know your account is restricted. Be smart and steer clear. Take the high road.
